Fall Cocktails

Hey BA!

This week I want to share some fun and (somewhat) healthier cocktail recipes for the Fall season!

As we’ve discussed before, quality matters. Read those food labels to find brands that have minimal ingredients and minimal sugar. The reduced sugar and higher quality liquors will be much more gracious to your body than traditional, sugary cocktails. Even still, moderation here is key. Sugar is still sugar, and alcohol is still alcohol. Enjoy the drink (or two) and then lets otherwise eat nutrient-dense foods to support your body’s needs. Detox to re-tox! And then detox again…

First, for you tequila lovers -

Chile Palomas

Recipe from PaleOMG

  • 2 cups freshly squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice (juiced then strained) – about 4 grapefruits

  • juice of 1 lime

  • 1/3 cup agave nectar (or honey, date syrup, coconut nectar)

  • 1 tablespoon chile lime seasonings* + extra for the rim of each glass

  • ~6 ounces silver tequila (four 1.5 ounce shots)

Shake all the ingredients together and enjoy!

Next, for you wine lovers -

Apple Cider Sangria

Recipe from Lexi’s Clean Kitchen

  • 2 apples, roughly chopped

  • 1 orange, sliced

  • 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds

  • 1 bottle of your favorite white wine (preferably organic)

  • 1/2 cup vodka

  • 2–1/2 cups fresh apple cider

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger, optional

  • 1 cup carbonated mineral water

Mix all the ingredients, except the carbonated mineral water, in a large pitcher and let it sit in the fridge. The longer it sits, the better the flavor! When it’s time to serve, add the mineral water and pour over ice and fresh fruit. Voila!

Fall twist on the classic mule -

Ginger Apple Moscow Mule

Recipe from Half-Baked Harvest

  • 2 ounces vodka

  • juice from 1/2 of a lime

  • 1/3 cup fresh apple cider

  • 1 tablespoon apple butter (pure, no added sugars)

  • 1-2 teaspoons fresh grated ginger

  • ginger beer, for topping

  • pomegranate seeds and cinnamon sticks, for serving

Combine vodka, lime juice, apple cider, apple butter, and fresh ginger into shaker. Strain into glass over ice. Top with ginger beer, pomegranate seeds, and cinnamon sticks.

And finally, for you beer lovers -

Try Holidaily’s Pumpkin Beer! Holidaily is a local brewery in Golden that has the highest quality ingredients and is always gluten free. The best part? It’s actually delicious! Gluten or not, this brewery is just straight good.

Let the Fall festivities begin!
