A New Way to Detox

Hey BA!

Holiday festivities always get me thinking a little more about detox. I think there’s a common misconception that detoxification requires a separate protocol of some sort of juice fast, water and cayenne pepper drink, or a whole30 strict diet. In reality, it’s actually a natural, continual process. Those cleanses simply strive to make the detoxification process more efficient. What this means for us is that you don’t need to buy a detox product to detox, and you also don’t have to wait post-holiday in order to start!

You can begin helping your body detoxify more efficiently right now. Here are a few quick tips that are particularly effective. Some you’ll see are extremely basic! They just require intentionality.

  1. Water - No surprise here. Hydration is crucial for detox! If you’ve been following the 25 Day Challenge and drinking 90oz daily, then you can go ahead and check this one off!

  2. Sleep - I know this one can be elusive, but it’s so crucial to prioritize sleep this holiday season. Your detoxification process is most active while you sleep, particularly during 1-3am according to traditional Chinese medicine.

  3. Movement - Think of movement as manual detoxification! It flushes the lymphatic system to eliminate toxins. Make sure to incorporate some gentle twists as well (think supine twists!). This one can also be checked off if you’ve been doing our 25 Day Challenge.

  4. Cruciferous Vegetables - These power veggies contain nutrients required for detoxification, so fill up (*cough, 6 cups, cough*). Here are a few common ones: broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and kale.

  5. Dandelion Root Tea - Tea time! Dandelion root is incredible for liver health. Incorporating dandelion root tea as a nighttime routine can be super beneficial for providing your body with that extra boost while you sleep.

Incorporate these simple tactics and boost your detoxification system immediately!
