Keeping a Positive Attitude - March 16th, 2020

We already know that getting your daily workout in boosts your mind body and soul, but it also boosts your immune system.  Getting into the gym and moving your body at least 30 minutes per day increases weight loss, healthy blood flow to your heart and body, reduces stress, boosts your energy and mood, and increases your ability to confidently go about your day. Even though the gym is closed, you have everything you need at home to keep moving and stay mindful.

We have an incredible and unique opportunity these next few weeks. Most of you are working from home, our extracurricular activities and events are postponed, our families are home, and we are suddenly “not busy.” This never happens and we can choose to either fight the unfamiliar or embrace it and make it productive. I’m choosing positivity! Work on getting 8-9 hours of sleep each night, drink plenty of water throughout the day, eat those fruits/veggies/good proteins/healthy fats, and get outside and move your body OR do a BLDRHome workout. I will be inviting my family to join me for these at-home workouts so we can all move together. I would also challenge you to take it one step further and work on mental health.  Mental health looks different for everyone and there are many different ways you can get started.

Here are a few ways in which I keep my mind positive and healthy in times of uncertainty:

1. Call a trusted friend or family member

2. Meditate (I like Calm, or Stop, Breathe & Think)

3. 20 Minute Walk or Sitting Outside

4. 30 Minutes of uninterrupted FOR FUN Reading, choose something YOU enjoy!

Please keep your eye on the Boulder Athletics Instagram page and our Blog for daily at-home workouts and additional content.  As members, take advantage of the access you have through Zen Planner for additional workouts during this time. We will be posting daily to keep you motivated! Remember that your first priority is to take care of yourself so that you can then take care of others. Spread the attitude of calm and understanding. You cannot control what happens, you can only control how you respond. Do your best to stay informed, do your part, and use common sense.  We appreciate all our members at Boulder Athletics and thank you for your constant support!

As always, don’t hesitate to reach out with questions! Keep Up the Good Work Everyone!
