6 Ways To Practice Good Habits

When it comes to good habits, consistency is key! Once we start doing something everyday, that thing becomes a habit and we get to decide if the habit will be helpful or hurtful to our lifestyle. Make a decision today to choose two helpful habits moving forward for this month. Make it non-negotiable to do these things everyday. Schedule time into your day for accomplishing these new habits. On average, we can form a new habit in as little as 60 days. Start by choosing two things that are not extremely difficult to stick to. Write these two things down, post where you can see them daily, set a reminder in your phone, and give yourself the time to become a better person.

One definition of a habit is "actions that are triggered automatically in response to contextual cues that have been associated with their performance." These so-called "good habits" are individual and will look different for everyone. The goal is to make these things so that you don't even think about doing them. It's not work, you just do them! Some habits are easier for some people to follow than others, and that's OK. It's your job to figure out what works for your lifestyle. Here are 6 easy ways to practice generally agreed upon good habits:

1. Make your bed every morning.

2. Wake up 30 minutes early to meditate/journal/sit quietly and drink coffee.

3. Swap out juice/soda/sugary drink for sparkling water.

4. Spend 15 minutes in the sunshine before the hour of 10AM.

5. Work out/move the body everyday.

6. Wind down the day with 1 hour of non-screen time before bedtime.

Have fun habit setting!
