Wes Martin grew up in Indiana where he participated in many sports but gravitated toward middle-distance track & field more than others. In his later school years, Wes was fortunate to have a Strength & Conditioning Coach where he was introduced to many foundational and Olympic lifts as well as conditioning drills that helped him succeed in athletics. This combination established a strong foundation and passion for health and fitness, which he would continue to pursue during his service in the Marine Corps. It was here that Wes was introduced to functional fitness – an ideal mix between athletics and weightlifting. The intense and varied structure paired well for training and helped him perform above standards during his four years in the Marines. Soon after, Wes moved to Boulder where he completed his BA in Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado while coaching at Boulder Athletics. Wanting to advance his education within the field of health and fitness, he then completed a MSc in Sport and Exercise Science & Medicine at the University of Glasgow, where he specialized in sport performance, and exercise and nutritional impact on health and function.
As a coach, Wes is passionate about working closely with members to achieve their goals. He believes that everyone who walks in the door has a reason for improvement and he enjoys when he can provide the means to help. Whether you’re a youth or adult member looking to get more fit, healthier, return to sport after an injury, or perform in competition, Wes strives to help you achieve that goal through effective and efficient coaching.
